07.18.2011

After weeks of thinking baby Sadie would come early I finally decided we would need to be induced. I had been dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced for a month and contracting pretty much daily every 3-5 minutes. We made 4 runs to the hospital thinking for sure I was in labor. Each time they would hook me up to the monitors and sure enough I was contracting hard every 2-3 minutes but nothing ever changed. They set the induction for Wednesday June 29th. They told me to call at 6 am to find out what time to come in. The night before I was laying in bed with Sienna talking about the arrival of baby Sis. I told her how I hoped the baby was healthy and looked just like her. She looked at me and got this very serious expression on her face and said "oh man mom, I just hope she's still a girl." I asked her what she would do if it came out a boy and she told me she already had one of those and would send it back.

The morning of the 29th I called the hospital at 6. They told me that they were pretty busy and to call back again at 8. Steve informed them that we lived an hour away so she then told us to be ready to leave by 7 and call again then. I think the kids knew that this was the day their world was about to change. Both usually sleep until about 9:30 or 10 and this morning both kids woke up super early. So at 7 we called and they told us to head on down. We kissed our babies goodbye and left them with grandpa Seth. We arrived at the hospital just in time to see an ambulance in the bay of the women center. When we got to the check in desk they informed me that they had just given my bed away. I joked and said you gave it to the ambulance lady right? They told us to walk around for a while and they would call us when they had a room ready. We walked around the hospital grounds and went and sat outside for a while. The weather was perfect and we got a little snack while we waited for the phone call. They finally called and told us to come back at 11. We finally got checked in and they started the pitocin and about 11:45. I told the nurse that I wanted the epidural as soon as possible because I didn't want to feel anything. She kind of laughed at me thinking I was joking but trust me, I wasn't. I was already dilated to a 4 and I knew that when the pitocin hit, it probably wouldn't take long for the arrival of the baby. The nurse came back in and told me the anesthesiologist would be going in for a c- section at 1 so if I wanted the epidural before I needed to do it then... I told her to send him in.. Again stating that I didn't want to feel anything. My cute dr arrived at the same time the anesthesiologist showed up to insert the epidural. She was there to break my water. Luckily for me she decided to come back AFTER the epidural had been placed. I was a little nervous for the epidural part but really it's not that bad. During the process we found out that the doctor had a best friend that lived in Oakley. After talking to him we found out his best friend was Dave Neff wh is really good friends with the Sargents. After he found out about this we got top notch care from him. He got the epidural placed but didn't have time to give me my extra dose button that you push when the pain gets really bad. He told me he would return as soon as he was done with the c- section to finish the process. This was at about 1:00 when he left. About 10 minutes later Dr. Gibson was back to break my water. I didn't feel much during the process but for sure knew when my water had been broken. Weirdest feeling ever, not going to lie. I think at this point she turned the pitocin up and told me she would return in a little while. At this point it was about 1:25. Life was good for a while but around 2 I Started to feel a lot of pain. I asked Steve to go and get my nurse because I was at about a 10 on the pain scale and I didn't feel like the epidural was working at all... I kept frantically looking for my button to push for the extra dose of medicine only to remember that the dr. Didn't finish with that part of the epidural. My nurse came in and checked me and realized I was at about a 7. She called the anesthesiologist and he walked in at about 2:20. He messed around with the line going into my back and had me switch to laying on my right side. After about 10 minutes of him giving me a "super dose" of medicine the pain finally subsided and I was completely numb. This was at about 2:30. At this point my cute nurse looked at the monitor and noticed my contractions were about 30 seconds apart and decided she better check me. She checked and sure enough I was completely dilated and read to push. She hurried and went and grabbed Dr. Gibson who arrived and started to prep for delivery, at this point she told me she wanted to do a test push in case I forgot how to properly push. So I Started to push and baby started to crown. She quickly told me to stop because she wasn't ready, she gowned up and got everything ready and told me at the next contraction to start pushing... Literally two and a half pushes later baby Sadie was born @ 2:45 p.m. She came out weighing 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. She had a full head of hair and came out trying to suck anything she could get her mouth on. She was perfect and so cute and the moment they placed her on m chest I Knew I would love her forever!!! It was by far my best birth. Thank heavens the anesthesiologist showed up when he did because if it would have even been 5 minutes later I would have felt everything and trust me I am not one of those women who had the desire to have a baby unmediated. I am totally fine in saying I received an epidural. I was so relieved he got it working just in the nick of time...
My cute Dr. We LOVE her... She is so funny!

Wow... A family of 5!!!

Sienna went to home depot with Grandpa Seth and daddy. When they got home Steve informed me they had "lost" Sienna. I started to ask Sienna about it and asked if daddy had lost her. She quickly informed me that no, Grandpa had lost her. We have a a few instances where Sienna has escaped from us for a few minutes. The first being this summer at Bear Lake. She had wondered down the beach and been out of our sight for maybe two minutes, Steve and I have never lived this down. Every time I tell her we would never leave her she quickly reminds me that I  "lost her" at Bear Lake... Yesterday after the Home Depot incident I had another conversation with Sienna that daddy and I would never leave her or stop looking for her. We would always love and protect her... She responded by saying " well, Grandpa didn't protect me..." on the way home from Home Depot Grandpa had to stop at the grocery store. They were walking down the ice cream isle and Sienna informed grandpa that she loved dipping dots. She then asked grandpa if he would buy her some... He quickly responded with no. She then proceeded to manipulate her poor grandpa who was already feeling guilty for Losing her and told him she wouldn't like him anymore unless he bought her the dipping dots... guess who came home with doping dots?

One of the benefits of living by my parents is we get to seem them a lot... My children love their grandpa and mee-mah... I cook dinner for my family pretty much every night and always make extra for grandpa. Most of the time he doesn't take me up on my offer to feed him which is really starting to offend me but every tine he comes to our house, Sienna quickly asks him to stay for an hour or eat dinner with us...

Sienna is convinced she is going to marry her brother, she calls him prince charming and can wait for the day that he will buy her a special ring like mamas...

on Sunday Seth was 15 months old... Sienna was talking to him and told him she didn't want to trade him for a  sister any more because she loves him so much.... Thank heavens it only took 15 months...

My baby girl is 4...
I know everyone starts off by saying they can't believe how big there kid is, but really... Where did 4 years go?
At 4 Sienna:
 - Goes to pre-school twice a week and learns so much its amazing...
 - Whenever you tell her you love her, she quickly responds with I love you karats (family thing...)
- She sings everything... I am not exaggerating this, there are days that it drives me insane because she never
   stops singing...
 - She loves everything to do with Princesses...
 - Her favorite color is pink...
 - She is really into jewelry and for her birthday she got a jewelry box. Her favorite thing to do is go through
mamas jewelry box and I have to explain where I got everything....
 - She told me that her and little man are going to get married and he is going to buy her a special diamond
ring like daddy bought mama... We have had several discussions on why this would not be happening but  - she is determined to marry her brother...
 - She is constantly telling little man how cute he is and what a good by he is... One day it sounded like she was praising a dog so I told her that little man wasn't a puppy... The next week he did something and I told him what a good boy he was and Sienna quickly informed me that little man wasn't a puppy....
 - She listens to grown up conversations far more then you would ever think... Two weeks ago we were talking about a patient at the prison who threatened to bite her daddy's nose off... Several hours later on the ride home Sienna asked her daddy why the patient wanted to bite his nose off...
 - If people ask where her daddy is at she still responds with "he's in prison" it makes me laugh every time...
 - Most conversations start out with "actually"
 - She still really likes her sleep. Most days she wakes by about 10:30 but once or twice a week I am waking her up around 11:30 because she's such a lazy butt and I  miss not having her awake... We start 9 am pre-school next year and I have NO idea how that is going to work... For the mama and baby girl...
 - Up until recently she has been at the office with us when we are there... I have loved having my kids there but she gets so bored and she a little to social.... She greets all patients who enters the office and then proceeds to ask them back to the exam room... She also makes sure to say good bye and come back next time to everyone who ever comes around...
 - She is so excited for her new baby sister to arrive but is still unsure if she will be sharing any of her dress up clothes with her...
 - She is a HUGE fan of her Grandpa Seth... Any time he comes to the house she makes sure to ask him to stay for "an hour" or "dinner"
 - She truly tests my patience several times a day, but also makes me laugh several times per day... The stuff she comes up with continually blows my mind and I often find myself shaking my head wondering where this little smarty pants came from...
 - He favorite princess is still Snow White but Rapunzel is not far behind...
 - When watching tv and she needs to go to something she always tells me to pause the show... Seriously when were we able to pause live tv? When we are watching on the tv upstairs that doesn't have the dvr attached she just cannot fathom why you would not be able to pause live tv...

Today we found out for sure that you are all girl... Let me just start off by saying I thought for sure you would be a little boy. After I had Seth I had the strongest feeling that I needed to have another baby and if we were going to do this then we needed to do it sooner rather than later... I talked to your daddy about it and surprisingly he felt the same way. I know that little man was sent when he was to help get you here. You better thank him when you are older because he really is the reason I chose to try it all again.
It all happened fairly quickly. We tried for 3 months and found out on the 3 rd month that you would be joining us on my favorite holiday, the 4th of July. I'm not going to lie, secretly deep down I was hoping for another boy. Being 18 months apart from your brother made me want that so bad. I have seen the relationship that your daddy has with his brother and it makes me smile and so happy that he has someone so close... Luckily, the day we found out that it was an 85% chance that you were a girl we came home and I later found your older sissy putting a fairy costume, makeup and headbands on little man. It was at that moment that I realized you are actually a girl to save little man from all the torture your older sissy had in store for him... I can not even begin to tell you how excited Sienna is for you... We didn't tell her until I was 14 weeks pregnant with you and we would have kept it from her longer had we found a baby sitter the day we went to do the ultrasound. Sienna has been asking for a baby sister since the day we found out we were expecting little man. She has actually offered several times to trade little man for a little sister. I'm pretty sure she almost had Nicki convinced of the trade because she is so in love with little man but I talked her into keeping him around for a little while longer. Sienna would often ask me if I had a baby in my belly and when she saw your profile on the screen I seriously thought she was going to pass out. We had to swear her to secrecy because I was not ready for the secret to be out yet. I have this huge fear of losing another baby and that it why we waited so long to tell your big sister. I actually waited a lot longer than the past pregnancy's to go to my first check up for you. I knew that if we were going to lose you, it was going to happen regardless of what I did and there really was no preventative measures to take to help me keep you growing. The first check up was the same day that your sweet Nana passed away. To say it was a bittersweet moment is such an understatement. To hear your heartbeat beating strong on the same day that your sweet great grandma died was a sign that you were meant to join our family regardless of what your daddy and I thought before having little man. You see, when I was pregnant with your brother I was convinced that we were done. The stress and worry that I put into pregnancy was just too much for me. I was sure that I could not handle that one more time. Heck, we were so very grateful to get the two amazing children that we got so who was I to say we needed more... But the feeling of having you were pretty immediate after little man was born. I remember talking to your daddy and going over my fears of trying to have another baby. I kept telling him that I couldn't handle another loss and I remember him Telling me that our feelings on having another baby were too strong and he doubted this pregnancy would abort, he is such a wise man and always knows the right things to say. You are very lucky to be getting him as your father.
So now here we are, half way through the whole pregnancy journey. It's going a lot faster then I would like... In reality I'm a little odd... I LOVE being pregnant. Feeling you move and flutter around inside is one of the most facinatig things in the world... I often find myself wondering what it's going to be like with 3... I'm in for a big change... Just promise me you won't conspire with your big sissy... I love that girl more then anything but man is she going to give me a run for my money... I'm not sure I can deal wit two of you like that...

I can't believe that my baby boy is ONE...
This little man has really been such a joy to our family...
He is the most easy going, laid back kid I have ever met...
He literally makes me want 12 more...
Here are the 12 month accomplishments:

-You have 8 teeth - 4 on the top front, three on the bottom front and just last night your first back right molar broke through...
-You have the cutest laugh I have ever heard and you laugh the hardest at your sissy...

- You have turned into a huge daddys boy! This is not my favorite:(

- You are not walking all out yet but you walk whenever there is something to hold onto... You have taken a few steps but nothing really sticks...

-You have turned into a turbo crawler and can get places pretty quickly...

-The minute you hear me open the dishwasher you make a beeline for it...

-You love all food, no matter what it is, you eat it!

- You put EVERYTHING in you mouth

Steve was looking out the back window using his binoculars to look at the Turkeys on Sunday afternoon...
About 20 mintutes later Sienna had the binoculars and was looking out the back door... Pretty soon Steve heard her say "Dad, I see Santa and he has a dress up box and Rapunzel dress for me" In her most excited voice possible!!! So cute!!!

12.12.2010

My favorite part about this picture and I am probably the only one who would notice it, but her boots are on the wrong feet... That's Sienna for you... I swear that girl can not get her boots on the right feet... It drives me CRAZY!!!

My little Nana... Oh how I love this little lady... When we decided that we would be doing the annual Christmas pictures down in Utah County I really wanted to get some pictures of the kids with Nana... Lets just say, that didn't turn out so well... As you can see by the picture above, she bawled the whole time. I don't know why she was so mad but she DID NOT want her picture taken. It makes me so sad because it was only two weeks after these pictures were taken that she passed away... That's Nana for you, stubborn until the very end... I just wish one of these pictures turned out... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brookie and Siennas face in these, not sure why they are glaring at the camera, but it's still pretty funny!!!
Little man was having a hard time standing up so we asked Sienna to help hold him up... She decided that holding him up by his ears was the best way to go!!!

We took the annual Christmas Grandkid pictures back in October... Let me just say, every year gets more entertaining. This year we had little miss model Brooke, Porter who was ticked because he had a little dog on his shirt, Sienna who decided to puke halfway through the pictures, Seth who just didn't really care about any of it, and the Sav, who just goes with the flow and is so dang cute! We took the pictures down at my Grandparents house and they turned out really cute. It's just so funny trying to get that many kids to smile at the same time. I can just imagine what next year will be like adding Nickis baby Kaiya into the mix... I just have to say that my parents are pretty lucky grandparents for having such cute grandkids!!!

10 Month Milestones... (it's taken me 3 months to post this... I wanted to add a picture but never got around to it...)

You love horses and puppies. Whenever you see a puppy you say woof...

You stick EVERYTHING in your mouth...

At night when we get in the tub you pull yourself up and start yelling "da"
You wave to everyone you see...

You pull yourself up on everything and get the cutest look on your face when you do it...

You have turned into a really big mamas boy. If I am in the room, you pretty much just want me...

You eat everything...

Last week you got a hold of one of your sissies sippy cups full of chocolate milk and you were downing that stuff as fast as you could. When I started to come and take it from you, you started hyperventilating...

You get the biggest smile on your face when your sissy wakes up in the morning...

You have 6 teeth. Two on the bottom and four on the top and I think you're working on cutting a few more...

You are an okay sleeper but not as good as your sissy. You usually fall asleep and a half hour later wake up for a quick cuddle.

You still take two naps and when we are at the office you pretty much sleep the entire time we are there...

You LOVE your jumper and get some serious air in that thing...

Your first Halloween you were Dopey...

 Fall Roundup...
We took Sienna to the Circus... I'm pretty sure I liked it more then she did. My goal in life was to be the shamu flipper, but now I have changed my goals to be in the circus... It was amazing!!!

We spent a few nights out on the river. Sienna has discovered that she LOVES eating trout (I'm puking as I write this.) Now every time her daddy and Grandpa go fishing she asks them to bring on back for her to eat!

Seth is now 9 months old, I will have to do a seperate post about the stats from the 9 month check. I'm pretty sure they did the calculation wrong, they told me he was only in the 30% for weight!!! He is kind of crawling now... It's more like a wounded soldier crawl. He just kind of drags himself across the floor, but he's getting pretty fast...

Sienna is loving Pre-School. It kind of drives me crazy though because everytime I pick her up and ask her what she learned she tells me "not anything" Luckily I do hear her throughout the week reciting songs and months of the year and other stuff that I know I didn't teach her.

Seth has been a little obsessed with all things animals lately. He LOVES the cows, dogs, and especially horses. We decided to let him ride colie with his sissy and he loved it. Now when you ask where any of the animals are, he points with his little finder showing us where they are. Luckily for him, we have an entire field of cows and his favorite horse in Grandpas neighboring field.

We've hit quite a few football games. My kiddos have been wearing a lot more red around our house. I'm pretty sure they're all seeing the light and switching their loyalties to Red!!!

Sienna is so excited for Aunt Nicki to have her baby girl. Everytime she talks to Nicki she asks if the baby is done cooking yet. I'm pretty sure she's more excited for Nicki's baby then she was for her own brother. We also found out that Aunt Ruby is having a baby as well and she is convinced that I have another baby in my belly and is telling everyone who will listen that I am having a baby girl... Let's just make it clear to anyone she has told this too... I am not Pregnant!!!

On our way home from Pre-School Seth got a hold of his sisters cinamon roll... I wondered why he was so quiet in the back seat. When we got home I realized why he was so quiet... He had frosting EVERYWHERE!!!
